He is currently Chairman of the Henderson Group specializing in Fund Management and he is an advisor on the Times Shadow Monetary Policy. He is currently chairman of The Stationery Office and he was previously Deputy Governor of the Bank of England.

Born and brought up in Zimbabwe, Rupert has degrees from Trinity College, Dublin and the University of Manchester. He started working for the bank of England before moving to "The Economist" where he spent sixteen years, seven of them as Editor, before returning to The Bank of England as Deputy Governor.
