  • More than 2,500 representatives of business, government, academia and civil society participated in the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2015
  • Inequality, climate change and the future of the internet were among the most discussed long-term challenges
  • Monetary policies and the fight against terrorism dominated the current affairs agenda.

The focus was on altering long-standing assumptions about our prospects to result in a ‘new global context’ for future decision-making. Four programme pillars were addressed: Crisis & Cooperation, Growth & Stability, Innovation and Industry and Society and Security.

Among the many speakers there, Jose Manuel Barroso led discussions about ‘Leadership in Crisis’ and Daniel Yergin spoke about renewable energy and energy as a stimulant for economic growth.

Wolfgang Ischinger was involved with the topic of adapting to future global security threats, whilst Al Gore and Lord Nicholas Stern were on a major climate change panel, where Lord Stern stated that economic growth and tackling climate change can be achieved simultaneously.
